Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVICTOR LYSENKO
Victor passed away, peacefully, at home, ending a courageously-fought battle with leukemia.
Victor was the eldest child of Olexa and Irene Lysenko, who came to Canada after WWII. He became a musician at age four, first playing the accordion, and then the piano, violin and tympany. Listening to music was one of his favourite things to do. He loved to travel and considered himself lucky to have seen many amazing places around the world. He also felt fortunate to have found a career that he loved, working with Canada Border Services for 22 years.
The greatest love of his life was his family. Wife Pat, daughter Alissa Trelka, son Alexander Lysenko, son-in-law Bobby Trelka, grandchildren Charlie and Sarah Trelka, will love and miss him forever.

Victor and I were born in the same hospital 4 days apart. We met when we were about 6 in grade 1. We knew each other from then until we finished high school. I have many many memories from our childhood together and some of the mischief we got into. He was a smart kid and full of pep and vinegar and fun to be around. So sad to hear he's gone. - Posted by: Don Allen (Friend) on: Jul 29, 2024

I just learned of Victor's passing. It saddens me a great deal. Victor, or as we called him "George Hamilton". Because he was always tanned from his vacations whether it be Vietnam, Thailand, Mexico. Victor and I started working together in Winnipeg Postal almost the same time. He became a good friend. As we both love to travel the world. We also worked together with I&I and we were partners. He often talked about his wife Pat and his children. Which he loved dearly. He was very proud of them. He had a very dry sense of humour which I will never forget. He will be missed dearly. I think of him often when I'm travelling wondering if he and his wife Pat have even been here where I am. I'm sorry this is late but I just heard of this now. RIP my good friend. Thank you for the laughs. - Posted by: Philip Houghton (Friend/ co worker) on: Jun 10, 2024

I met Victor 17 years ago when I started with CBSA and he quickly became one of my favorite co-workers. From belting out Amy Winehouse, to his floral glasses, he always made me smile. I asked him what his plan was for retirement, and he told me his was going to grow his hair out and get into trouble. So I really hope that happened. My deepest condolences to Victor’s family, he was truly one of a kind. I will never forget him. Thanks for all of your kindness Victor. Xo - Posted by: Amy Wainwright (Colleague) on: Nov 15, 2023

In the last years of Uncle Victor's life, I had the privilege of speaking with him on several occasions to glean information about our shared family history. He had a fantastic memory, and an ability to recall the names of people who were part of that story 90 years ago! Prayers and hugs to Auntie Pat ❤️ - Posted by: Jasmine Lysenko (Niece) on: Sep 13, 2023

I was so saddened to hear of Victor’s passing. His family was so important to him as was his enjoyment of all genres of music. I have fond memories of working at the Canada Customs Winnipeg International Mail Centre with Victor. He was always smiling and joking around. His jokes made the work day pass quickly. He will be remembered for years by his CBSA family and he will be greatly missed. My deepest condolences to his family. - Posted by: Denise Garand (Fellow CBSA Officer) on: Jun 25, 2023
