I was deeply saddened to learn of Lorne's passing. We spent quite a few hours together over the pandemic preparing PPE kits for St Amant staff. It was so pleasant chatting with him. Lorne was a hard worker and I used to joke with him that he was setting the bar high for me. I will remember Lorne and the time spent with him very fondly. My deepest condolences to his entire family. - Posted by: Charlotte Walkty (Fellow volunteer at St Amant) on: Jul 07, 2023

I am so sorry to hear of Lorne's passing - we used to see a lot of each other - he and my Mum Edie and Dad Orvlile, and cousin Howard would meet with Lorne and his Dad Murray and we would go for breakfast - at least every second week and sometimes weekly. We used to visit him and his family in Winnipeg on Simpson, and they would come visit Mum and Dad in Selkirk, and me in Gimli (with their motorhome). I want to send my condolences to Linnie, Lori, and Larry on the loss of your brother. He was a sweet funny guy and he is now with Rae and Murray. My Mum, Dad and I loved you Lorne. Rest in peace, cousin. - Posted by: Darlene Vokey (Biddy) (cousin) on: Jul 05, 2023

I was fortunate to get to know Lorne through work and lawn bowling. A wonderful man with a great sense of humour. A determined and courageous individual who despite his physical challenges was not deterred. He was blessed with a loving supportive family and friends. He will be missed. - Posted by: Gerald Chudrick (Friend) on: Jul 03, 2023

I grew up two doors down from the Mitchells on Simpson Avenue. Lorne was always the nicest kid on the block. Funny and always seemed interested in others. As a teacher in the River East School Division, I often saw Lorne at divisional events with that same enduring smile and with a genuine interest in helping the students. My condolences to all of his family. Bev - Posted by: Bev (Hendricks) Kliewer (Childhood Neighour) on: Jul 01, 2023
