FREDA DUCHARME
It is with shattered hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Freda. On June 25, 2023 at 11:10 a.m. at St. Boniface Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, with her family by her side and surrounded by love.
Freda Jane Alice Ducharme (nee Coutu) was born in Winnipeg on March 25, 1953 and grew up in St. Laurent MB. Freda is survived by her husband of 47 years, Roland Ducharme, and children, Jocelyne and Laurent Ducharme, along with granddaughter, Alisa (Martin) Pilotte, and great-granddaughter and cosmic twin, Hadley. She leaves behind, her many sisters, brothers (both in-laws and outlaws, as Freda would say) nieces, nephews, Godchildren and so many family friends.
Freda was predeceased by her parents, Benedict and Lillian Coutu and in-laws Francois and Lucie Ducharme, along with her sister Bernice Blais, brothers Charlie Coutu, Donat Coutu and brother’s in-law, Willard Ducharme and Art Gareau.
Freda worked for Canada Revenue Agency from 1976 until her retirement in 2010 and made many lifelong friends. In her downtime, Freda loved to bake and cook for the people she loved, also enjoyed traveling to the USA, to get great deals on purses, jewelry and journals, and traveling all over Canada to visit, hug and spoil all her family and friends.
Freda was also quick with her humor and wit, ready with a comeback and a laugh for any occasion, she was joking until the very end, teasing the nurses’ aides, nurses and doctors during her time in the hospital. We will all miss her humor and laughter.
We want to thank the St. Boniface Hospital staff on 6E and the Palliative Care Unit for taking care of our Freda over the last 2 months, also the Seven Oaks and St. Boniface Renal Clinics, Dr. Paquin at Access St. Boniface and the WFPS.
As per Freda's request, there will be no funeral, but a Celebration of Life that will happen at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice.

So sorry for your loss and my deepest condolences to Roland, Jocelyne and Laurent. Freda was such a happy person always laughing and feeding you. she would send Laurent to work with her delicious Christmas special of white chocolate cereal mix. I remember attending the Huron Christmas Carol and meeting Roland. And meeting Jocelyne a time or two with her mom. Laurent working with at CRA so very sorry to you. I was fortunate to work with Freda at CRA and on the C.A.N.E. Committee she shared her knowledge and kindness with all. I am very sad to read of Mrs Ducharme's passing. My husband Larry and I send our deepest sympathy and condolences to Mr Ducharme, Jocelyn, Laurent and Alissa. I worked with Jocelyne for several years at IMI and I know how much she loves her mom. We became friends and I am sure she is devastated. Please contact me if you would like Jocelyne. If not that's fine as well. Larry and I will keep your mom in our prayers. - Posted by: Kathy Naven (Friend ) on: Jul 03, 2023
