AUDREY LENORE GREENHAM

(nee KING)

August 12, 1927 - June 3, 2023

Peacefully on Saturday, June 3, 2023, Audrey Greenham of Clarkleigh, Manitoba let go of the hand of her family and reached out for God’s hand and her eternal heavenly home.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children: Wendy (Jim), Judy (Bill), Tom (Irene), Norma (Bob), Gracie (Dan) and Lorraine (Larry); her grandchildren: Diane, Michelle (Jamie), Wayne (Cora), Sheila (Chris), Stephanie (Steve), Bradley (Justine), Lyle (Charity), Jill (Scott), Ryan (Andrea), Darcy (Laura), Delaney (Virgil), Jordan (Mike), Rachel, Emily, Jeremy (Eva); her great-grandchildren: Gregory, Lisa, Alexandra, Ethan, Evan, Tyler, Austyn, Alyssa, Brooklyn, Makayla, Jayden, Callie, Aubrey, Nathan, Elsa, Jackson, Audrey, Knox, Danica, Morley, Violet, Evelyn and Juliet; her great-great-grandson Gunner; many nieces, nephews and great friends.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Morley, her parents, Fred and Emma King, sisters, Mary, Evelyn, Ruth, Emma, Helen, Dorothy; brothers, Fred, George, Harry and twin brother Lawrence.

Audrey was born in Winnipeg. She moved to the farm in Clarkleigh with her family when she was four years old. She loved to make hay with the horses and we heard lots of stories about runaway horses in the hayfield. She really enjoyed school, playing baseball and soccer. She loved to run, with the colts, after the cows, and at the school and picnic races. She played the piano by ear and played for a school choir. She worked at East Meadows Ranch when she was a teenager.

Audrey married Morley, June 15, 1946, and they had 58 wonderful years together. She had a busy life working on their dairy farm and raising six children. She always made our work on the farm fun. We raced with the clock getting work done, played games and enjoyed picnics. She loved to mow hay and made the best hayfield lunches. She was very involved with her grandchildren, hosting many family gatherings, which usually involved a game of soccer.

Mom sewed many of our clothes when we were young. She crocheted, knit and sewed many quilts and always had a project on the go. Mom enjoyed watching the Blue Jays and the Jets. She maintained a close relationship with her siblings which gave us the gift of a large close knit extended family.

After Audrey and Morley retired from dairy farming in 1977 she became more involved with the Clarkleigh Friendship Club, working as secretary treasurer. She was very involved in the Clarkleigh United Church serving as secretary and then chair for many years. She also took tea and coffee for refreshments after church. Mom wrote notes about her childhood and time working on the farm. In her notes she wrote ...”The strength that I have from God has helped me all through my life.”

Audrey travelled extensively after retiring from dairy farming, visiting family across Canada, USA, New Zealand and Europe. She loved her trip to Churchill to visit the polar bears when she was 86 years old.

In 2018 Mom moved from the farm to the Lundar Seniors Home. She enjoyed many friends there. The family would like to thank all the health care workers for their kind care of our Mom over the years. You are greatly appreciated!

We are so blessed to have had such a kind, easygoing, wise and hardworking Mom. We will miss her amazing attitude, ready laugh, and great smile! We all remember Mom / Grandma standing at the window waving good-bye to us.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Audrey’s memory to Lundar Seniors’ Housing, Box 655, Lundar, MB R0C 1Y0, Lundar Seniors Resource Council, Box 430, Lundar, MB R0C 1Y0 or to a charity of your choice.

A private family service will be held on Sunday, July 16, 2023, at Clarkleigh United Church, followed by a public Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m. in the Lundar Legion Hall. Interment will follow.

  • I remember going to Audrey’s home with Gracie when I worked in home care in Winnipeg. A sweet person. Although it is hard to say goodbye forever, it seemed Audrey had a rich life. - Posted by: Sharon McDonald (Nursing friend of Gracie Greenham) on: Jul 08, 2023
