ANNE BUREK

(nee SKURA)

January 12, 1922 – June 26, 2023

We are saddened to announce that our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother has passed away.

While we will miss her immensely, we find solace in knowing that she is reunited with her beloved Bernie. Anne was predeceased by her husband Bernard, her parents, sister Mary and brother Harry. She is survived by sons, Ronald (Maureen), James (Michelle), grandchildren, Joanne (Theo), Allison (Chris), Lisa (Kevin), great-grandchildren, Devon, Ash, Xavier, Melody, Seth and Emily, nephew Robert (Cindy) and niece Karen, and Geraldine (Trevor) and Elaine (Walter), Bernie’s nieces whom she was especially close to.

Mom and Dad spent their summers at their cottage at Eleanor Lake and winters in Florida plus many trips throughout the U.S. and Canada. Mom travelled on tours to Israel, many countries in Europe as well as Morocco. She enjoyed the “whist” card games with the Red River Seniors as well as being an avid reader.

Mom will be remembered foremost for her strength, love, and dedication to her family. She was a strong, independent, intelligent woman, whose generosity to her family affected their lives greatly.

“In the garden of life, a Mum is the most beautiful flower of all.”

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Anne was a spitfire, full of love and energy. My relationship with Anne started in 1999.She shared many stories of her life ,the deep love she had for Bernie and the devotion to her 2 sons, and the love for her extended family that she cherished. I will miss our car rides in and around the city , we would laugh and talk for hours. She liked to go to A&W on Deacons Corner then to Gerry T's ranch to feed the miniature donkeys. I learned so much from Anne, How to be a better person, How to love and understand her son Jim better. How to cook better, How when weak, to be strong again, and how to laugh at life's jolts. I will miss our pizza nights and finding the best Ruben sandwiches in town. Anne you were my good friend and the closest I've had to a mother figure in my life. I miss you now and always.
