PAUL LEGER

Paul Leger, surrounded by his family, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2023, at the age of 91 years.

Paul will be greatly missed by his daughter Germaine (Dennis), son Marcel (Rhonda) and daughter Monique (Bruce). He will be lovingly remembered by his seven grandchildren: Sarah (Mike), Nicole, Eric (Sabrina), Tyler (Megan), Taylor (Nik), Jacques (Karam) and Annabelle along with his two step-granddaughters: Allison (Aaron) and Kate (Cameron). He was extremely fond of his four great-grandchildren: Emmett, Madilyn, Levi and Kesley along with his two step-great-grandchildren: Wren and Lionel.

Paul will also be affectionately remembered by his sisters, Anna Lessard, Irene Arnaud; his brother George Leger and sister-in-law Germaine Leger. Also missing him greatly will be numerous nieces and nephews who included him in many family functions.

Paul was a retired journeyman electrician having worked for the Canadian Pacific Railway for over 30 years. His many skills were used to build his cottage at Austin Lake or help most anyone that asked.

His education was limited to middle school, but his knowledge was vast. He was an avid reader of history, science, geography and the natural world. We will miss being able to ask any question and be provided with wisdom and direction.

Paul was predeceased by his wife and true love Helene Marie Leger; father Adelard (Pete) Leger; mother Beatrice (nee Veroneau); brother-in-law Roland Lessard; brother-in-law Gerald Arnaud; sister Cecile L’Arrivee and husband Gabrielle L’Arrivee and his little brother Bernard Leger.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Winnipeg Fire and Paramedic Service, Concordia Hospital Urgent Care staff, Health Sciences Centre (Adult ER) staff, GH6, GH7, WRHA Community Palliative Care program along with Home Care support workers.

A special mention to the friends and staff at Devonshire who had become Paul’s extended family.

A celebration of Paul’s life will be held at Glen Lawn Funeral Home (455 Lagimodiere Blvd.) on July 12 at 2:00 p.m.

  • We send our heartfelt sympathy and loving prayers, Germaine, Marcel and Monique. Uncle Paul was a sweet gentleman who always had a kind smile. He was always happy and seemed like he didn't have a care in the world. Being blessed with such a wonderful family may have been the reason. He will be missed.
