PHILIPPE DUFORT

We are sad to announce the passing of our father Philippe Dufort on June 18, 2023, Father's Day.

He leaves to mourn Corinne (Robert Guenette), Edmond (Nicole Borkosh), Nancy (Philippe Lecuyer) and Adrien (Sarah Burns). He will be missed by his beloved grandchildren, Nicolas, Renée, Caleb, Mario, Emilie, Miguel, Trey and Tess. He also leaves behind his sister Lucille Ouimet.
Philippe was predeceased by his parents, Edmond Dufort and Regina Lagassé.
Philippe was born in Saint Norbert, where he lived for most of his life. He worked as an educator in the Seine River School Division for many years. Dad was an avid volunteer. He had an adventurous nature and loved to travel. He moved with his family to Madagascar for four years, he continued travelling and teaching in African and Caribbean countries. But his favourite place to be was his cottage at Traverse Bay.
A private service will take place at a later date.

We will miss you dad, grand-père.

Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • My Condolences to the family, I remember your dad from St Norbert school as a student and delivering the paper after school. I always talk to Philippe whenever I take my walks and always asked about my mother. - Posted by: ginettei dowinski (neighbour) on: May 25, 2024

  • Condolences Ed, Corine, and Nancy, on the pass of your father. He occasionally dropped in to see me at work, at the Legislative Library. Not sure if he was really dropping in to see me, or if he just like visiting the Library. It was always good to see him. Sending my love. • I am so sorry for your loss. Your Dad was always there willing to help, whether lending a tool to put up a snow fence, flood forecasting in the spring on rue Campeau, or picking up my Dad after a fall on Marrington Road. (he would sometimes against medical advice leave the hospital after a medical procedure). One thing he made clear was hospitals were not for him. As much as he disliked hospitals, he would always go visit my Dad be it at Victoria Hospital or all the way to the Grace Hospital, it was very much appreciated. He was a very kind and generous man, and a great neighbour. - Posted by: bernard j campeau (former neighbour) on: Jul 10, 2023

  • Condolences to the family. Thank you Mr. Dufort for being a good friend to my father Georges Gosselin whom recently passed. Now you, Charlie and Georgie can be young again. - Posted by: Robert Gosselin (Family friend ) on: Jul 08, 2023

- Posted by: Richard Girouard - [Genealogist] (2nd cousin 1x removed) on: Jul 08, 2023

  • Mes sincères condoléances à la famille de Philippe. J'habitais l'ave Ste Thérèse pas loin de la rue Campeau. I even babysat the kids when they were smaller. La merveilleuse promesse de Révélation (Apocalypse) 21:4 me réconforte, la mort, le deuil et les douleurs disparaítront bientót. - Posted by: Jack Nobiss (Acquaintance long ago.) on: Jul 08, 2023
