ROBERT JOHN (JACK) MACDONALD
Jack passed away peacefully on July 15, 2023, at the age of 84 after a brave eight year battle with cancer. He was tougher than even many of his friends knew.
He is survived by his son Gordon, daughter Heather and grandson Leonard. He was predeceased by his parents, Irene and Cecil MacDonald, son Terry David and grandson Sheldon.
Upon leaving high school in Flin Flon he was employed with Hudson Bay Mining in 1956 and in 1961 moved to Winnipeg where he joined the city police service, retiring as a Staff Sergeant after an exemplary career in 1986. He then joined Manitoba Lotteries as a security investigator, leaving there in 1995. Over the years he also worked in the trucking industry with some very dear friends.
“Thank you to all of my family and good friends who have been with and supported me for years.”
As he wished, a simple cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service or memorial.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Cance Care Manitoba. Jack, his family and friends express thanks to his personal Physician Dr. Andrew Lodge and Doctors J. Gingerich and B. Kowaluk and their staffs at CancerCare, the caring people in the Palliative Home Care program, and to the kind, compassionate folks at the Riverview Health Centre 3E. He spent his last days surrounded by friends, family and being taken care of by the amazing staff in the Grace Hospice.
