Donna Marion Norell (nee Young), died on January 11, 2023, at Oakview Place in Winnipeg at the age of 91.
Donna is survived by her brother Gerald James Young of Winnipeg, MB; nieces, Brette Ritchie (David Hunter) of Scarborough, ON and Meredith Gordon of Surrey, BC; nephews, Michael Hopper (Yvonne) of Oak Bluff, MB, Peter Hopper of Victoria, BC, Patrick Hopper of North Vancouver, BC, Andrew Young (Marleen Morris) of Vancouver, BC; great-nieces, Krissy Hunter (Ibrahim Jubber), Jenika Gordon, Emily Gordon; and great-nephews, Andrew Hunter (Shannon Fewster), Mark Hunter, Willy Hunter, Connor Hopper (Allyson), and Kegan Hopper. Donna also had one great-great-niece, Celeste Hunter, at the time of her passing.
Donna was predeceased by her husband Kenneth Conrad Norell in 2009; her father Andrew McDonald Young in 1954; her mother Eva Margaret Volland in 1986; her stepfather W. Robert Volland in 1995; her sister Jean Margaret (Babe) Hopper in 2018; her brother-in-law Dr. Gordon Ritchie in 1999; and sister-in-law Margaret Ritchie in 2017.
A Celebration of Life for Donna will take place on July 29 at 2:00 p.m., at Chapel Lawn at 4000 Portage Avenue.
If friends so wish, they may make a donation in Donna’s memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society at 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3T 0R3 or, to a charity of their choice.
Donna was a kind and generous person with many devoted friends and family members. All were always welcome at her home and there was always a bed and a meal to be had. From those of us left behind, we love you and we miss you.
