FLORENCE JEAN PEARSON

Florence Jean Pearson (nee Bayer) was born in the Norway House Indian Hospital on April 27, 1952. She fought a long, courageous battle with cancer.

She was predeceased by brother-in-law Normand Vincent September 5, 2019, her dear sister Mary Georgina on July 26, 2017; and her parents, Catherine Marguerite May Bayer August 26, 1981, and Raymond Thomas Bayer March 5, 1987.

She is survived by her three children, Alana (Kitty), Scott (Jackie) and Catherine (Lloyd), 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, as well as siblings, Lloyd, Raymond, Loretta, Joyce and Frank.

As a child and eldest of six children Jean was always proud to be the first in the family for many things - first child - first to school - first to work - she was most proud of her first bottle of NIX that she was to bring home to the family. On West Island she was known as the blonde one. At the age of ten the family moved from Norway House to Sioux Lookout and then to Thompson.

Jean raised her three children, Alana Mae, Scott William and Catherine Jean then returned to college where she earned certification to work in the health care system. Here in the hospital setting in Winnipeg she was able to reconnect with northerners she knew as a child. Her retirement in 2014 gave her an opportunity to travel from coast to coast and spend time with family; more knitting and crocheting, canning vegetables and baking for the festive season.

She loved her kids and her grandchildren dearly and travelled coast to coast to spend time with them. Her home was filled with books, completed puzzles, bowling trophies and her baking and preserved veggies were in high demand. In her later years she played online games with her family and friends.

Celebration of Life - July 24, 2023, family and friends will meet at Brookside Cemetery at the family grave at 12:00 Noon and proceed to the West Kildonan Park for the celebration service and lunch.
