Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES ALLAN SCURFIELD
Jimmy passed away peacefully on Friday, July 21, 2023 at the Riverview Palliative Care Center after a long illness.
Born on April 30, 1947 to Hazel and Tom Scurfield. He is survived by his sister Anne (Hacksley) and his two beloved nieces and families, Carolyn (Erick) Isabella and Veronica Showalter, Katherine (Martin) Maximilian and Sophie Schweizer, as well as many cousins and his best buddy of 65 years, David Cameron and family.
Jimmy will be missed for his gentle, caring nature; not to mention his cute sense of humour. His many years at The Bay were very meaningful to him and he could remember so many of his “Bay family” with great detail.
For many years Jimmy curled at the Heather Curling Club. He also enjoyed looking after his cars, especially his 1930 Pontiac. Most of all, he loved to “putter”, fixing things for everyone and always there to lend a helping hand.
Jimmy was a good friend, a good neighbor, and the best brother and uncle anyone could ever ask for.
You will be in our hearts forever.
A service in Jimmy’s honour was held on July 27, at Thomson “In the Park" Funeral Home.

Jim worked in The Bay's Major Appliance department in the '70's and I worked part-time in Staples and Linens, located across from each other on the 4th floor. We lived in the same neighbourhood and he often gave me a ride home when we both worked the evening shift and the store closed at 9:30 pm. I see that he was just 12 years older than I was, which doesn't seem like much now but I guess back then as a high school/university student it did, so I always called him "Mr. Scurfield". He was a lovely man and I'm so sorry for your family's loss. - Posted by: Susan Peters (Former Bay Employee) on: Aug 14, 2023

Dear Anne, I am so sorry to hear of Jimmy's passing. Please accept my condolences for your loss. He was always a gentleman, and a devoted and loving brother to you and Mark. I had many conversations with Jimmy at Riverview when you both used to come to care for Mark. Sending lots of love to you, and a big [HUG].... - Posted by: Louise Lage (Friend) on: Jul 29, 2023

A special curling buddy with an endearing chuckle, an occasional spinning rock delivery whenever he felt like it, post-game bag of candies, festive gifts for his team, a ready excuse for arriving late for a game, a GMC vehicle named after him, humorous anecdotes, expressed love of his nieces, deals at The Bay... no doubt an eight-ender awaits you in heaven! - Posted by: Gilbert Desroches (Friend & Teammate @ Heather CC) on: Jul 26, 2023
