It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Donald Gary McPhail on July 21, 2023, at the age of 83.
Gary, as he liked to be called, is survived by his wife Joyce; sons, Glen and Donald (Sara); grandchildren, Leah, Braeden, Damon (Natacha), and Oaklyn; and great-grandson Asher. Gary was predeceased by his father Donald, mother Margarite, brother Bob, and sister Dorothy.
Gary grew up in Carleton Place, Ontario, and joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1958, retiring in 1992. Gary and Joyce married in 1966 and made Winnipeg their permanent home in 1977 after living in Ottawa and Cold Lake. Gary loved his family, was an avid reader, and spent many days enjoying the family cabin near Grand Marais. Gary will be missed terribly by his family and those who knew and loved him.
A service celebrating Gary’s life will be held on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Ave. at Henderson Hwy.
