It is with sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Norman at the Kildonan Personal Care Home on July 27, 2023.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Lore; sons, Ed Stevenson, John Stevenson (Shirley); daughters, Sylvia Corrigal (Cliff), Tracy Stevenson (Brian) and Kathy Plikett; grandchildren, Jason Blackburn, Lenny Blackburn (Jasmine), Ryan Stevenson (Lisa), Andrew Stevenson, Sean Stevenson, Brady Stevenson, Tiana Plikett, Ciara Plikett (Mitch), Hanna Stevenson, Karl Stevenson and Joe Stevenson; great-grandchildren, Kyla Blackburn and Alicia Blackburn; brother Bill Stevenson; sisters, Elaine Callahan and Joyce Alias (John).
Norman was predeceased by his parents, Leslie and Margaret Stevenson; and Trudy Macia and Jim Stevenson.
Norman was born in Winnipeg on September 27, 1930, and was raised with an incredible work ethic on his parents’ farm.
He drove taxi for many years until he stared driving truck in his twenties, which he continued to do until after he was 80 years old. During this time, he received many safe driver awards and reached the five million mile mark, which is a level seldom achieved.
After retiring, he continued to work at his daughter’s market, in North Kildonan for five years, which he thoroughly enjoyed. His impeccable attention to detail was greatly appreciated by all who knew him.
He was a huge fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and Winnipeg Jets but also took on model trains as a hobby. He was an avid reader as well. He took frequent family road trips which naturally he loved as a professional driver.
The family wished to thank the nurses and medical staff at the Kildonan Personal Care Home for their kindness and care.
A private family service will be held.
