Valerie Anne Gail Lavallee passed peacefully the morning of Saturday July 22, 2023. Valerie was predeceased by her parents, Anne (Gillespie) and Felix Lavallee. An only child, she is survived by her cousins, extended family and friends.
Valerie was a deeply committed practical nurse for 41 years. One of Valerie’s head nurses had described her kindly, saying “Valerie is a committed, compassionate and caring nurse. Her patients receive the highest standard of care. Many patients have requested that Valerie care for them. She always gives her very best! She has a great disposition!”
A devoted and loving woman, Valerie spent her life in selfless dedication to relatives, friends, patients and strangers that she met. She had great love for all animals especially cats and dogs.
Even though Valerie never had children of her own, she loved being with her friend’s and family’s children by giving them rides to and from activities, celebrating their birthdays and holidays, being their co-pilot as they practiced their driving skills, and partaking in many activities and outings at restaurants, petting zoos, nature adventures and more.
She loved to spend time in nature and was very fortunate to have her cousin Jeannine and her husband Denis always welcoming her to their home in Poplar Bay. Many memorable times were lived and shared with them.
Valerie loved tending to the needs of seniors in her community. She leant support to many close friends in their latter years, including Marcien and Marguerite Desorcy (Lorette) as well as Marcien’s sisters, Rose, Lucienne and so many more who were fortunate to know and receive her compassion.
She is remembered for her generous heart, humbly putting everyone else’s needs above her own. She would go above and beyond at every opportunity. She would help total strangers without judgement. She will be greatly missed, as well as her smile and her funny remarks.
A celebration of Valerie’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on August 12, 2023, at the Prairie Grove Cemetery.
We would like to extend special thanks to all the staff on the 3rd floor at Foyer Valade for their tender care and support. We are also grateful for the musicians and the staff responsible for the musical entertainment and the activities for all senior citizens.
