Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryINGO GUSTAV MUELLER
Ingo was born in Braunschweig, Germany, and arrived in Canada, via ship, with his mother on June 2, 1952. They then travelled by train from Halifax to Brandon, MB, where he lived for the next 46 years. Upon arriving in Canada, Ingo spoke only German and Danish, having attended elementary school in Denmark. Soon, he was speaking English and pedaling his bike delivering the Winnipeg Tribune newspaper twice a day, while attending his classes at school. His father arrived a year earlier to find employment for the family.
Ingo is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Judy Mueller (Benson), sons Terry (Barb) Mueller, Ingersoll, ON, Brad (Kathy) Mueller, White City, SK, and Mike Mueller, Medicine Hat, AB, stepson Craig Barkman, Winnipeg, MB. and stepdaughter Heather Ginter, Winnipeg, MB, grandsons Christopher (Tamika), Cochrane, AB, David (Amanda), Dorchester, ON, Braeden, Los Angeles, CA and Tyler (Kyla), Regina, SK. and great-grandchildren Benny, William, Kayden and Bo. Ingo is also survived by his sisters-in-law Gail Benson, Winnipeg, MB, and Lorraine Kaczor, Richmond, BC.
Ingo was predeceased by his parents, Otto Emil Arthur Mueller, and Annaliese Mueller (Reichardt), stepson, Ernest Ginter and brother-in-law, Richard Kaczor.
Ingo worked at the Brandon Mental Health Center as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse from June 25, 1959, to June 30, 1998, before retiring. He then moved to Winnipeg to be with his wife, Judy. Never one to sit idle too long, he found a position as a security guard for Palliser Furniture, where he worked until age 73.
Ingo had a true passion for hockey and baseball and over the years, coached many youth teams in Brandon Minor Hockey and Baseball. He held various executive positions in Brandon Minor Hockey and later with the Manitoba Amateur Hockey Association, where he represented MAHA and met people from across Canada while attending to meetings, tournaments, and events.
Ingo also had a love for travel and especially animals. Over the years, he travelled extensively in his motorhome. He owned and rode his own horse and helped his parents with their hobby farm in Alexander MB, where they boarded horses. He also enjoyed the company of many dogs (mostly basset hounds) during his life and he will be missed by his little dog, Muffin.
His last few years of life were difficult ones as he battled Parkinson's disease and struggled with dementia.
A donation in Ingo's memory can be made to Parkinson's Canada, 316-4211 Yonge St., Toronto, ON, M2P 2A9 (www.parkinson.ca) or a charity of choice.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral at Ingo's request. We will miss you, Ingo.
