DENNIS WAYNE KYLE

June 22, 1959 – July 31, 2023

It is with heavy hearts the family of Dennis Kyle announces his sudden passing at Brandon General Hospital on July 31st. Dennis suffered a stroke on July 30th and never regained consciousness before his passing.



Dennis leaves to mourn his special friend Mary Lou; sons Bryce (Ceanna, Keagan, and Bryleigh) and Tanner (Cat); mother Bert; brother Mike (Kaileigh, Payton, Ryder, and Kennedy); sister Brenda (Keith, Krista, Traci, Robyn, Brae, Logan, Brett, and Nicole); and many family members and friends.



From Elkhorn, MB to Shediac Cape, NB; from every Tim Horton’s, hockey rink, and ball diamond. Dennis had many great friends and left his impact on everyone wherever he was.



Dennis grew up on the family farm at Two Creeks for the first years of his life before moving to Elkhorn. He grew up in Elkhorn playing hockey and ball, golfing and attending the weekly gymkhana events with his horse Flicka. Following school he moved to Brandon where he started his truck driving career first with Manco Milk and later with McGavins.

In 2002, Dennis and his young family returned to their small town roots in Elkhorn, where he quickly settled in and was involved in everything from coaching his sons ball and hockey teams, golfing, reffing, looking after the rink, and was very instrumental in getting the new ball diamonds built in Elkhorn. He then started driving truck for Petro-Canada, and later went on to managing the Bulk fuel station, at which time they moved to Virden.



In January, 2020, Dennis moved out to Shediac Cape, New Brunswick, to experience the east coast. Here with his special friend Mary Lou and her son Bryan, he enjoyed many games of ball, kayaking, hiking, biking, snowshoeing and quadding trips. Their ball teams travelled to both Vegas and Utah for tournaments, as well as hosted many events. And of course, Dennis made a lot new friendships along the way on the east coast as well. Once again, Dennis drove truck, delivering tires and often commented how beautiful the scenery was and of course getting to cross the Confederation Bridge to PEI on a regular basis was a highlight.



Dennis was always quick to lend a hand, had a great sense of humor, was an avid athlete, and was a great friend to all. A Celebration of Life was held August 7th - very fittingly at the Elkhorn Rink. He will be greatly missed.



Thank you to everyone over the past few weeks that helped out in so many ways – covering shifts for Homecoming, sending food and care packages, taking over the town mowing to ensure it was looking good for the weekend, for the beautiful flowers and memorial donations, helping with the funeral and providing such great love and support for all of us and for sharing a lot of great stories and memories. Special thank you to Rhonda Pardy and her Tim Horton’s crew for providing Dennis’s favorite food group – Tim Horton’s coffee and donuts for the service, and to Cheryl Sisson for leading a beautiful Celebration of Dennis’s life and for all the comfort and humor provided along the way, and lastly to Elkhorn District Community Center for assistance with the set-up/clean-up, and for providing the venue that meant so much to Dennis. What a fitting location. We’d also like to thank Kevin Tutthill and the Elkhorn Fire Department for their assistance on the July 30th, and to Lynn and Vicki Tutthill for hosting Dennis for the summer and making him feel at home. Once again, Elkhorn and all the surrounding communities and sports families have reminded us what small communities do and we appreciated every gesture. We are going to miss him but you have helped us tremendously to start the healing.
