AIME CHARRIERE

It is with great sorrow that the family announces the passing of Aime Charriere on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Actionmarguerite Saint Boniface at the age of 97. Aime leaves to mourn four sons: Maurice (Agnes), Gilles (Dale), Real (Brenda), and Renald (Elizabeth); five daughters: Rejeanne (Philippe) Parisien, Marie (Bill) Salter, Florence (Maurice) Dubois, Diane (Clarence) Ledoux, and Lucille (Ron) Nickel; 23 grand-children and 31 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Paul and his sisters Therese Michaud and Simone Michaud.

Dad was predeceased by his wife of 59 years Majella, his daughter Suzanne Levesque and grandson Michel Charriere.

Dad was born in Notre Dame De Lourdes in 1926 and the family moved to Saint Anne for 10 years to work for Arthur Cusson, then moved to Saint Adolphe for 5 years to work on the Oblate Fathers farm. They then moved back to Saint Anne to the small farm that his parents had bought.

Mom and Dad were married in 1948 in Saint Anne and then started to raise their family on a farm that they bought in La Broquerie. In 1965 they sold the farm and moved to Saint Boniface and Dad started to work for Federated Co-op until he retired. While working hard to support his family he was always there for us and there wasn’t anything he would not do to help any one of us to attain our goals. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus (Chevaliers de Colomb Saint Boniface). His strong faith in God and his devotion to the Virgin Mary helped him through his many challenges in life.

Dad made many friends wherever he went and it was easy for him because of his infectious smile and his always positive attitude. Dad enjoyed family gatherings, camping, fishing, watching hockey, football, baseball and curling on TV and even playing on a curling team when time permitted.

Mom and Dad enjoyed extensive travelling throughout Canada and the United States with several friends, and ended up as snowbirds in Florida until Mom’s health did not allow them to continue their holidays.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at la Cathedrale de Saint Boniface, 180 Avenue de la Cathedrale on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. with the eulogy beginning at 12:40 p.m. Live streaming is available at live.cstboniface.ca Interment will take place at the Saint Boniface Cemetery, 917 Archibald Street, Winnipeg, MB after the service.

Our family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the personnel of 2DE Actionmarguerite Saint Boniface for the loving and compassionate care that Dad received for the past two years. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
