Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROSANDA (ROSA) BANICEVIC
It is with heavy hearts and great sorrow our family announces that our beloved Rosa passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving husband and children, on August 26, 2023, at Selkirk Regional Health Centre at the age of 82 years.
Predeceased by her parents, Roza and Tomic Marelic and her brother Matij. Left to mourn is her sister Marija, her husband Damir, of 60 years marriage, her children, Zlatan (Elaine) and Darka (Mike), her grandchildren, Brett (Rachel) and Alannah (Harry) and great-grandchildren, Avery, Casey, Anjali and Collin, as well as many friends and extended family.
Rosa was born in Dubrovnik, Croatia on July 28, 1941, and grew up in Cara, Korcula. Rosa married Damir on October 19, 1963, and following the birth of their son they embarked on their journey to start a new life as a family eventually settling in Winnipeg in 1967. Rosa worked for the City of Winnipeg for much of her adult life until her retirement. She and her husband built a beautiful home in St. Andrews, MB in 1993 where she lived until her passing. Rosa was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who took great pleasure in creating a warm and inviting home and loved to feed anyone who came through her door, she was the most amazing hostess. She loved to garden and spend time with family and friends who were very important to her. She cherished all gatherings, bringing happiness to those around her was her greatest joy. She was the cornerstone of our family and took great pride in her children and their families. Family was everything to her and always her top priority.
During the last few months she fought hard to heal her failing heart and eventually succumbed to pneumonia brought on by the complications of congestive heart failure. There are no words to express how deep our loss is, we will cherish the love and memories she gifted to us. As much as she fought to stay as long as she could to spare her family the immense grief of her departure, she longed so much to be reunited with her mother and we take comfort in knowing she is now with her in the loving arms of her Lord and Saviour.
The funeral service celebrating Rosa's life will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at the Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul with a reception to follow the service.
Ona je nas svi volila i napravila za nas sve sto smo mi volili.
Molim Boga da drzi i pomaze nju.
U miru bozjem, pocivala Draga Mama.
