JANIS ANN O'TOOLE

It's with immense sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Nana and wife, Janis Ann O'Toole. Janis passed away with her family by her side at the Hospice Waterloo Region on August 31, 2023.

Beloved wife of 48 years and best friend to Patrick O'Toole. Loving mother to Michael, Neil (Erin) and Patricia. Cherished Nana to Connor, Samantha and Aiden. Pre-deceased by her daughter Colleen, brother Paul and parents Sidney and Jessie Lawrence.

Janis leaves behind her sister in-law Joan along with her niece and nephew Andrea and Jeff (Sarah) and family. Janis also leaves behind many brothers- and sisters in-law, nieces and nephews of the O'Toole clan, whom she greatly adored.

Janis fought a valiant fight with such strength and courage; she was our "rock". She was the true virtue of love, selflessness, kindness and generosity and she left a lasting impression on anyone she met.

We'd like to thank the staff and volunteers of Hospice Waterloo Region for the amazing care and support these last few months. You brought great comfort, strength and, most importantly, laughter during our family's hardest times. We can't thank you enough.

We will be hosting a Celebration of Life in Kitchener in a few weeks' time; details will be posted via social media. Another Celebration of Life will follow next year in Winnipeg, Manitoba where she will be laid to rest beside her family.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Hospice Waterloo Region would be appreciated by the family.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Such sad news! Janis was such a positive and happy person! I will always remember her smile and kindness and the fact that she loved her family and grandchildren from the bottom of her heart. She has left us all far too early. She never forgot her Winnipeg friends and family and for that we are truly grateful. Our sincere condolences to you Pat and to your entire family. She was a beautiful lady and will be dearly missed. Love from Susan and Pat Flynn - Posted by: Susan Flynn (Friend) on: Sep 02, 2023

  • Pat and family. We are so so sorry to hear of Jan’s passing. Way back when we were young and just starting to raise our families we were really close and had so much fun together. We remember when we came out west a few years ago and visited with you guys again. I was really excited when you contacted us about coming down south however that wasn’t meant to be. You guys have been in my thoughts and prayers daily. Keep those memories close to your heart and she’ll always be with you. Sending love and hugs. 🤗🤗❤️❤️ - Posted by: Lola and Tom (Friend) on: Sep 02, 2023
