April 15, 1944 - August 24, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce that on Thursday, August 24, 2023, John peacefully passed away with his family by his side.

Remaining to cherish John’s memory are his children, Kelly, Bonnie (Myron), Christi (Halil) and Keri; grandchildren, Zackary, Amanda, Zane, John, Megan, Emma and Isobel.

John was born in Peel, Isle of Man on April 15, 1944. He spent his childhood in Winnipeg, Manitoba and resided in Manitoba, Ontario and Nova Scotia as an adult. John loved the years he spent in Nova Scotia with the ocean in his backyard.

At John’s request, there will not be a traditional service and instead the family asks that those who knew him honour his memory by taking a moment to recall their happiest times with him.

Donations can be made in John’s memory to Canadian Blood Services.

Condolences may be left

on his tribute wall at

Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk

in care of arrangements.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Heartfelt condolences to the family on John’s passing. I’m so glad he was able to enjoy spending the last few years in Nova Scotia. I remember John more from our youth— when he would come to visit our Grandmother, who lived with our family. He was quiet, thoughtful , witty and smart. A wonderful combination of his parents, Isobel and Milty Clarke. Rest in Peace John. - Posted by: Joan Clark (John’s cousin) on: Sep 03, 2023
