Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJUDY CAROL BROOKS
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mother and nana, Judy Brooks. Judy passed away peacefully with her family by her side on August 31 at Selkirk Regional Health Centre.
Judy had a determined, kind and giving spirit for all that knew her. Her family was her priority, and she loved attending her children and grandchildren’s activities and sports. She was born and raised in Selkirk, where she married the love of her life, the late Clive Brooks, and raised their own family. Judy was a dedicated registered nurse for 42-years in Selkirk, where she worked in most areas of the hospital. Judy believed in serving and giving back to her community. She was a very active member and volunteer in the Anglican Church, The House of Economy, Gordon Howard Senior Centre, Meals on Wheels, Selkirk Curling Rink, and Selkirk Golf Course. She volunteered at the House of Economy for many years, right up to the last month of her life. Judy valued her friendships and was very active in nurturing each and every one of them. She loved the fact she made many friends through all the collective volunteer efforts that helped support local charity needs in Selkirk. She was a proud member of P.E.O. Chapters P & G in Selkirk for over 60 years, where she embraced the motto “In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count, it’s the life in your years.”
Her husband Clive and sister Patricia predeceased Judy. She leaves behind her children, Scott (Lisa), Lesley, Kim (Wayne) and grandchildren, Tyler (Kruise), Brett (Aislyn), Kara (Riley), Adam, Brooke (Jordan) and Paige (Karl), Steven (Enza); great-grandchild Hailee.
Judy and Clive raised three children in their home on Maple Drive. They hosted many celebrations in their home, but they loved their time at the cabin on Chalet Beach. There have been many friends and memories made at the cabin.
The legacy Judy leaves to us all is woven with love, dedication, and boundless generosity. In her passing, we find comfort in knowing she lived a full and happy life. We know that her spirit is forever alive in the hearts of those who were privileged to know and be loved by her.
The family would like to thank Judy’s friends and co-workers that visited her in hospital.
A special thank you to the many doctors, nurses and health care aids at Selkirk Regional Health Centre. Your dedicated service and compassion for our mother’s care will never be forgotten!
Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held.
