WILLIAM JOHN MITCHELL
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of William (Bill) Mitchell on September 2, 2023. He will be greatly missed by his family: son Kirby (Annette); and grandchildren, Melissa (Jeff), and Jeff. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Gladys in January 2022; and his son Brad in July 2023.
After working for Winnipeg Hydro for over 30 years, Bill retired and enjoyed meeting up with friends at various coffee shops. For the last year and a half Bill resided at Dakota House in St. Vital where he made new friendships with other residents and the staff.
A private family service will be held for Bill at a later date.

I had the pleasure of calling Bill a friend for over twenty years. Having Bill as my neighbour was wonderful. So many great memories and conversations we had either in my garage, the back lane or the many visits to Salsbury House. We would talk about current events, politics and countless other things that were on our minds. He would talk about his Boys and his grandkids, he was so grateful and proud of them. He always asked how my boys were and what they were up to. To them, Bill was like a grandpa. Having Bill and Jackie as neighbours was such a blessing. I don't have words for losing such a good friend. Selfishly I wish he were still here to go for breakfast with and hear him talking about his dad and the many stories about him growing up in old St. Vital and how it was back then, so long ago. I also know that losing Jackie weighed on his heart a lot and he missed her terribly and with the sudden loss of his son Brad. I know that he is back with them and he can now continue to drive Jackie crazy. I can see her now, rolling her eyes and shaking her head at him, and him laughing. I know they are happy. Rest easy Bill, Thank you for being my friend, until we meet again, I will miss you - Posted by: Jim Kyryluk (Friend ) on: Sep 13, 2023
