I'll forever remember my grandfather as a hardworking, caring, and honest man. Being far apart, I only saw him for a bit once a year, but every memory I have of him is meaningful. He may gone, but his principles live on in his family. I try to live my life like he did, with integrity and purpose. - Posted by: Michael (Grandson) on: Sep 15, 2023

Can it be this much time has passed already? I still think of Jake often. Of course he was one of the adults in my youth. An important man in my life for sure, Father of my best friend, authority figure, teacher, a man of great knowledge and experience. Hard working, dedicated to his family. In each act and gesture, an example of how a man should conduct himself. And yet, that smile. It could light up a room and draw even the smallest of children in (including my own later in life). Sometimes he would look at me and smile and I'm sure he was wondering how that idiot kid was going to make it in the real world. Yet never scolded, never criticized, only tried to steer. Now that I'm older I can see it must have been frustrating at times. I believe that these people who cross our paths in life, continue to shape and guide us long after they're gone. I've never met someone as hard working and caring as my grandfather and I miss him all the time. Unfortunately I lived in a different province and didn't see him as often as I would've liked, but every memory with him is so cheery and calming. Campfires, boat rides, family dinners, even simple things like husking corn together and eating chips with my sandwich at lunch (a treat for me!) I remember to this day and those memories always bring me joy. The memories of his warmth, unwavering love for his family, his laugh and kind heart inspire me to a better person. I love you and miss you very much Grandpa Zane - Posted by: Zane (Grandson) on: Sep 12, 2023

My dad was simply...the best father I could have ever hoped for. It's only been through my own experiences as a 'dad' that I've truly appreciated the impact of dad's (and mom's) parenting, values (honesty, trust, integrity, respect, hard work...to name a few), and legacy. My dad, "Jake" to so many, lives on in me and my own sons. I feel him in me so often, and see him in my sons' ongoing maturation and development as young men. My family has so many fond memories of dad that I consider us so fortunate and blessed that he was in our lives for those 80 years and continues to provide guidance and oversight into how we live our lives even after he has left this life. We all miss you dad, so much, mom especially. That's the legacy of love you have left for us all. Rod - Posted by: Rod (son) on: Sep 12, 2023
