LLOYD PETER SHEWCHUK

May 4, 1958 – September 12, 2023

On Tuesday, Sept 12, 2023, Lloyd left this world to meet up with his four-legged best friend, Tia Marie, at the Rainbow Bridge (poem by author Edna Clyne-Rekhy).
Lloyd leaves to mourn his passing, Judy his forever friend, sister Sharon (Tom), brother Ron (Michelle), father-in-law Peter, sisters-in-law, Geraldine and Darlene (Bernhard) as well as a many dear nieces, nephews, cousins and his new puppy Bodhi and cat Mousechuk.
Lloyd cherished and was very proud of his Ukrainian heritage. He loved listening to the Zabava Radio Hour while playing pinball and video games, this was Lloyd's me time. He thoroughly enjoyed all Ukrainian food and was a master at making perogies, holupchi, and borscht. He was also an excellent cook of a wide variety of ethnic dishes. Lloyd's knowledge was impressive when it came to musicians and bands of all genres.
Lloyd and Judy, his lifelong companion, travelled to many wonderful destinations. His favourites were Mexico, Myrtle Beach, and Florida. Summer months at their cottage retreat in Hillside Beach fulfilled his love for nature and wildlife.

Lloyd earned his CPA designation and worked his way up to Controller at two major companies.
In lieu of flowers as per Judy and Lloyd's wishes, donations may be made to any animal rescue organization. The date and location of the farewell gathering to be determined

  • I too am sorry to hear of Lloyd's passing and send my condolences to his family and friends, I was involved in the hiring of Lloyd at the Selkirk steel mill. From day one he was wonderful to work with, easy going and had a great sense of humor, respected by that he dealt with him. I was blessed to have the chance to work with him. Rest in peace Lloyd. - Posted by: Kevin McBeth (Former Colleague) on: Sep 24, 2023

  • I was shocked and saddened to hear of Lloyd's sudden passing. My heart goes out to Judy for the loss of her dear partner and trusted friend. On a number of times when I called their house, Lloyd would pick up the phone. That was an invitation for a long chat about the troubles in the world today, and politics. We had similar answers to many of the problems, and I'm going to miss those fiery talks. Rest in peace Lloyd. You will be missed. - Posted by: Elaine Barkman (Friend) on: Sep 18, 2023

  • We were so very sorry to learn of Lloyd's passing, our condolences to Judy and the Shewchuk family. It's been many years but we have fond memories of working with Lloyd and Judy at Sperry in the 80's. We remember Lloyd had such a great, somewhat dry, sense of humour which will surely be missed. RIP Lloyd. - Posted by: Paul and Bev Woodcock (Former Co-Workers) on: Sep 18, 2023

  • Sending our Condolence's to Judy &Shewchuk family Sharon, Ron and remaining family. Our families often got together so I grew up spending time with my cousins Sharon, Lloyd and Ron. Lloyd was always fun to be around . As the years passed by we grew up and went on in our lives. In later yrs. we often met up and Lloyd was always interested in what everyone was up to. In recent years he often stayed in touch by e-mail and we discussed stories of our travels, family and such. He always sounded optimistic and positive about life. We will miss Lloyd a lot and his sense of humour. Rest In Peace. Irene - Posted by: Eric&irene Bechert (Cousin…Calgary) on: Sep 16, 2023
