CHRIS SICHEWSKI

It is with sadness, that the Sichewski family announces the passing of our beloved husband, father, and papa, Christian (Chris) Sichewski, on August 2, 2023. He was surrounded by his family at the Brandon General Hospital. Chris at the age of 68 years went peacefully to be with the Lord.

Chris was born on the family farm on December 24, 1954 to parents William and Ann Sichewski. He was the youngest of 10 siblings.

Left to cherish wonderful memories are his loving wife of 44 years, Diane, children Andrea (Shawn), grandchildren Kaiden and Kyra, Nathan (partner Heidi), and Matthew, brothers Mike, Ernie, Danny, Boris (Valerie) David, sister Elizabeth, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Ann, brothers Brian, Walter, and Marvin, sister Eileen, nephew Eric, brothers-in-law Victor and John, and sisters-in-law Stella, Diane, Laverne and Gail.

Funeral services held on Saturday September 23, 2023 at the Sandy Lake Community Hall with Deacon Conrad Plante officiating.

After completing high school Chris went to the oil patch to make money. One of the most significant moments of his life was when he fell in love with Diane Koversky, and they married on June 23, 1979. He always wanted to farm so he bought the family farm and ran a cow/calf operation along with grain farming. Chris always made time for family, friends, and having fun on all occasions. He travelled to Punta Canna and Mexico a few times with family.

He volunteered for various organizations, such as being president of the Sandy Lake Community Hall from 1993-2012, Sandy Lake Fire Department as a firefighter from 1989 - 2002, on the Sandy Lake Rec Committee he was instrumental in acquiring the lands for the rec, and the construction of the present curling rink.

Chris was a perfectionist on any project he tackled from fixing broken machinery, to working with cattle, or constructing the family farm house. His intelligence led him to many discussions as to how things should be run and completed. He always thought outside the box. He always provided good advice to his children. Take pride in excellence was his motto.

He enjoyed spending quality time with his two grandchildren. Facetiming every day before the start of school, and sharing stories of wildlife encounters and interesting topics about the universe and the big bang theory.

Chris enjoyed ice fishing on Lake Dauphin, Lake of the Prairies and Sandy Lake with his sons and friends, participating in various fishing derbies around Manitoba, and taking fishing trips up north with his sons and friends. He received a couple of Manitoba Master Angler Certificates for catching the required measurements for a rainbow trout and walleye.

Our family would sincerely like to thank everyone who came to celebrate Chris’ life. Thank you to everyone who sent flowers, cards, phone calls, text messages, and brought food to the house and to the hall. We are forever grateful for your acts of kindness.

Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. from Sandy Lake Community Hall in Sandy Lake, MB, with Deacon Conrad Plante officiating.
