• I'm so very sorry to hear of the passing of such an admirable lady. I'm also upset that I missed her funeral. I have very fond memories of Helene as a neighbour. She was always so thoughtful and kind and helpful. She gave me the best babysitter in Marlene, and the best couple of playmates for my boys in Garry and Ursula. Sweet memories. She was such a hard worker and had her routine of housekeeping. Mondays was always laundry, and I remember seeing her in the dead of winter hanging it all out on the line in a specific order - sheets first which she'd then have to crack to fold. She was a great baker, and I still remember the fresh lemon buns she'd send over to us with Garry and Ursula. She planted a big garden too, and when we moved away in 1985 she gave me some of her poppy seeds that she always planted. The red ones didn't like me but the pink ones still come up every year in my garden 38 years later. With their blooming every summer I remember her and the lovely family that she so devotedly and proudly raised. My condolences to you all on this heartbreaking loss.
