WENDY ANN ELLIOTT

Wendy passed away on September 11, 2023, at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg.

Wendy was born on November 30, 1948, in Portage la Prairie to Della and Dr. Gerald Elliott. In Portage, she completed her elementary and secondary education and in 1970, obtained a degree in Sociology at the University of Winnipeg. Wendy will be remembered for her commitment to her neighbourhood of Wolseley and her dedicated volunteer support for Manitoba artists, music, and theatre.

Wendy leaves behind her beloved grandsons, Fredrich, Cohen, and Theo; sister Brenda; son Devin; daughter-in-law Stacey McCracken; cousins; and many friends - particularly those whose friendship continued throughout her life. Wendy lost her son and part of her heart, Corey, to ALS in 2019.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg for their loving care in the past two years.

All are invited to honour Wendy at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, October 22 at Old Grace Housing Co-op (200 Arlington Street).

Wendy’s family requests that you visit her tribute page at EthicalDeathCare.com for memories and stories published by those who knew her.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Lovely photo of Wendy, captures her soul connection and love of the outdoors. She has put her canoe in the calm water, then happily, peacefully, paddled away to distant shores, with nature's music in tune. Deep sadness & heartfelt condolences to Wendy's family & friends on her passing. Our connection started in Wolseley in 1977 through our children at Laura Secord School and Sport & Rec (RASCC); our friends in the NDP; our activist, social justice sisterhood! Wendy championed many positive outcomes, two being as a Co-Founder of the Wolseley Residents Association; and, the installation of the much needed play structure at LS School. It was, however, the one on one and shared heart to heart, as part of the Wolseley Sisterhood, that sustained and remained, even to today. Thankfully I shall be in attendance to share more memories on Oct 22nd. Now rest in peace and glory Wendy. xoxo - Posted by: Angela Mulgrew (Friend) on: Sep 23, 2023

  • We are greatly saddened to read of Wendy’s passing. We shared mutual friends and mutual interests in theatre and music. She was always a positive bundle of energy and we always enjoyed talking with Wendy at The Winnipeg Folk Festival and at PTE. Our thoughts and sincere condolences to Wendy’s family on the loss of this very good woman. - Posted by: Richard, Karen & Martin Howell (Friends) on: Sep 23, 2023
