EDNA BUFFINGTON
Edna (nee Stadnyk) Buffington was born on February 25, 1932 in the district of Gilbert Plains, Manitoba to Nick and Dora Stadnyk, the fifth of nine children.
On July 6, 1957, Edna married Henry Buffington and together they raised six children here in Winnipeg. Edna worked as a custodian at Beaumont School and spent her last year before retiring at Oak Park High School. She was fondly remembered as “Mrs. B” who helped the kindergarten teacher get the students dressed up in their ski pants and scarves.
Edna and Henry both enjoyed traveling in Canada – they visited British Columbia, Alberta, and Alaska, but she especially enjoyed her visits with her brother Leonard in Ontario. She also enjoyed baking, gardening, making preserves with the vegetables she grew for winter dinners, and playing cards with family and friends.
Edna enjoyed visits with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She leaves behind her children, Gail Buffington of Winnipeg, MB, Wyatt Buffington (Lorelei) of Sidney, BC, Wayne Buffington (Brenda) of Curran, ON, Monty Buffington (Louise) of St. Malo, MB, Monica McKay (Tom) of Edmonton, AB, and Barb Buffington of Winnipeg, MB; sisters, Anna Rollo of Winnipeg, MB and Gladys Sanko of Grandview, MB; brother Paul Stadnyk (Carol) of Dauphin, MB; siblings-in-law, Sylvia Stadnyk of Winnipeg, MB and Ray Buffington of Thunder Bay, ON; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and plenty of nephews and nieces.
Edna was predeceased by her parents; husband Henry; sisters, Josie Kotak (Mike), and Mary Starr (Stan); brothers, Joseph (Lorna) and Leonard Stadnyk; siblings-in-law, Lorna Myskiw, Joyce Bouchard, Esther O'Brien, Ralph Rollo, Walter Sanko, Roy and James Buffington.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 28th at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home.

The Southam family has very fond memories of Edna and her family taking care of all us kids when we were little. Many a fun time was had in the Buffington home! And the tradition continued for my fur-kids when I was an adult. We all send our love and care: Maureen, Greg, Mike, Jeff, Heather, Julie and Chris. - Posted by: Julie Long (neighbour on Charleswood Road) on: Sep 25, 2023

Barb, my sincere condolences to you and your family. What a long life your mom had! I remember your mom giving us a little bowl of chocolate chips to eat when I was over at your house and that seemed like such a treat to me.
