EDWARD JAMES CLAGUE
On September 20, with family by his side, Edward Clague passed away peacefully at the St. Boniface Hospital.
He leaves behind his five daughters, Joan (Gordon), Judy, Cheryl, Karen and Linda (Randy). He was Grandpa to eight and Great-Grandpa to five who will miss him dearly. He was predeceased by his wife Betty in 1981, his son Brian in 2014 and his son-in-law Jeff Elson in 2021. He was also predeceased by four brothers and a sister.
Dad grew up in Winnipeg and saw the world change in many ways throughout the years. He was always grateful and optimistic about life. He thought he was the luckiest man alive to spend his years with Mom and he often expressed how much he missed her and Brian these last years.
Dad was an honest and hard-working soul. He spent 44 years at Westeel and often worked more than one job to support the family. He retired in the fall of 1994 and got to enjoy many happy years of retirement.
Somewhat reluctantly in 1968, to appease Mom he packed up the old station wagon with a tent and a pile of kids and we had the first of many family vacations. The travel bug bit him and he enjoyed many travels over the years. Dad held a special place in his heart for Banff, Hawaii, the annual trek to the Calgary Stampede and of course family long weekends at Clear Lake.
Dad never turned down an opportunity to go out and in recent years, he loved to hang out with family for “Tim’s” at the mall, Bird’s Hill or a backyard. This was made all the better if he could talk sports!
It’s impossible to sum up 94 years in a few words or how much he meant to us. We will cherish our memories, his stories and the laughs shared. We never doubted his unconditional love for his family.
In keeping with his wishes there will be no formal service. The family would like to thank Dr. Bishay for his care over the years and the staff on 4E medicine at the St. Boniface Hospital.
In lieu of flowers, take a moment to appreciate your day because a wise man told us to “Enjoy every moment because they go by fast.”

I am so sorry to learn of Uncle Ed’s passing, how wonderful for your family you had him until his 94th year. He was the last of the Clague family from grandpa Steven Clague. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you, you have beautiful memories of him and your family life together. - Posted by: Brenda Carriere (Clague) (Family member) on: Oct 07, 2023

I wish to offer my condolences to his daughter Karen and the rest of the family. He lived a long life making it to 94. I never met him but Karen was my coworker at MTS until I retired in 1995. While I have not seen her since, I have not forgotten about her. Yes, it’s sad to lose a loved one but he is in a better place now. - Posted by: Edwin Pearr (Friend) on: Oct 01, 2023

I met Eddy when I started working at Westeel, I was very young and didn’t know anyone there but working with Eddy it was great to have found such a nice, kind and friendly person on the first day. He showed me the ropes and shared all his life stories and made working with him the best part of my experience there. Years later, I seen Eddy out walking one day on Hwy 59 and I am glad I stopped to talk to him. We went for coffee, it was a very nice visit and I was happy I got to see him again. RIP old friend …I’m sure you're flying around up in heaven with those new wings you got or sitting on that park bench in Banff having a cup of tea with Betty! Thank you for your friendship. -Harry - Posted by: Harry Necsefor (Co-worker and friend ) on: Sep 30, 2023
