PETE KLASSEN

January 25, 1956 - October 12, 2023

It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of our beloved and loving husband, father, grandfather, Pete Klassen on Thursday, October 12, 2023 due to a courageous battle with cancer.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jeannette; his daughters, Kimberley and Charity; his sons-in-law, Ray and Dustin; his grandchildren, Tristan, Soleil, Joel and Leah. His adopted in to the family daughter Jaime, his godson Dawson and his favorite niece Colleen.

He was extremely proud of his family and loved them with all his heart.

Pete also leaves many friends who loved to hang out in the garage either working on a project or discussing many topics over coffee. Thank you to his closest friends who stayed by his side even when things got tough, you know who you are. Your support to Pete and myself is heartfelt xoxo. Pete lived life to the fullest, enjoying travelling, meeting people, drag racing, skydiving, building cars and so many more activities.

The family would like to thank his oncologists Dr. Visser and Dr. Gordon, Dr. Reimer and Dr. Fredette and the team of palliative care and Homecare nurses who took amazing care of Pete and were such a support to me. Pete was able to remain at home until his passing which was his greatest wish.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no service.

Donations may be made in memory of Pete to any Pet Rescue or CancerCare Manitoba.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Uncle Pete, I have many childhood memories of you as you lived with us for a time while I was growing up. Never to call you “Uncle” was the one thing you asked of your nieces and nephews. I remember colouring huge doodle art posters (covering the entire dining room table) with you, my brother and sister, and your friends just all being engaged in teen conversation (I was younger so I was just “soaking it all in”). Haha You moved back to Manitoba and married your beautiful Jeannette! We weren’t as close after that but I am happy you had a good life with your lovely wife and children. I am saddened by struggles and you put up a good fight, and saddened by your loss. Dad’s youngest brother. You will never be forgotten Uncle Pete and know you were (and will continue to be) loved for who you were. My condolences, love over the miles, and prayers to Aunt Jeannette, Kim and Charity and the grandchildren and family and friends who knew him, loved him and will miss him. - Posted by: Kelly Thiessen (Niece) on: Nov 15, 2023
