JANE ELIZABETH DE LEEUW

(nee GROVER)

1943 - 2023

Jane took her last breath at home on October 12, 2023 surrounded by her family.

She was born to Cec and Alice Grover.

She is survived by her loving husband, Harry; their three wonderful daughters, Tracey, Danielle (Arne), and Katie (Kevin); their eight grandchildren, Jenna (Nick) and Carly (Adam), Hanna, Magnus, and Beck, Jack, Brett, and Maddie; four great-grandchildren, Nathan and Tristan, Mia and Dylan; and siblings, Brian (Patrice), Richard (Elizabeth), Kathleen, Sheila (Greg), and Paul (Michéle); her brothers-in-law: Bert* (Marilyn), Danny, Marcel (Bev*) and David (Cathy) and her many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jane was born in Norwood flats, attended Nordale school, Nelson McIntyre, St. Mary’s Academy, graduated from University of Manitoba, and had a fulfilling career in construction administration at PreCon Builders.

Jane had the biggest heart and the most beautiful smile. She had THE BEST sense of humour. She was fearless and independent, yet soft and incredibly compassionate. She loved spending time at Victoria Beach and Clearwater Bay. She was happiest playing tennis, playing and listening to music, reading, playing bridge, baking, and nurturing her thriving backyard garden. Jane had a life-long curiosity for science and nature. She was strong-willed and stubborn, and those traits defined her. They were part of who she was, and her strength undoubtedly helped her deal with all of the challenges that life and illness sent her way. But above all her greatest joy in life was her family and friends.

Jane was a strong fighter who never complained, despite such immeasurable pain and illness. We know that she is free from pain, peacefully in heaven with all of her family and friends.

Our family is forever grateful to the care and compassion given daily by Amber, Adna and Jenni and the Palliative Care team.

A funeral mass will be held on October 25, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Timothy’s Parish, 135 John Forsyth Road, followed by a Celebration of Jane’s beautiful life at St. Boniface Golf Club, 100 Youville Street at 1:00 pm.
