A WOMAN OF COURAGE.
A WOMAN WITH A HEART OF GOLD.
Caroline (Karolina) Andrejczuk (nee Pankiewicz) passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 18, 2023.
She is now in God’s arms and reunited with her husband Hilarko (1977); and her two beloved sons, Bohdan (2004) and Myron (2012).
Caroline is survived by her daughter, Irene Andrejczuk (Mark) from Montreal, and who has been her mama’s primary caregiver for the past ten years. She was diagnosed with dementia in 2013, and after many years of volunteering and participating in the Adult Day program, Caroline became a resident at Holy Family Home in Winnipeg, where she spent the remaining years of her life. She is indebted to the staff on the St. Paul’s Unit for their loving care, as she progressed through the various stages of this insidious disease.
Caroline lived her life with hope and endless courage. She was a risk-taker. She did not stand by and was able to put into action what was needed. She took control and was an example of the power and the possibilities that having courage can bring. Caroline embodied courage, strength, hope, love, determination, and perseverance.
Caroline succeeded where others have never even tried and once settled in a new land she wanted to have family members join her and Dad in Canada and together, they successfully sponsored 17 members. She was a Second World War labor camp survivor and was determined to help her family overcome adversity back home and start a new life full of hope for a better future.
Two things Caroline cherished the most and that was her children and her family far and near.
Caroline was extremely proud of her Ukrainian heritage, the Ukrainian culture and traditions. She instilled this in all her children.
Her countless times of putting others before herself and her selfless actions, only show that she was a woman with a true heart of gold, full of compassion, and the ability to love without conditions.
She leaves a massive hole in the hearts of numerous nieces and nephews in Winnipeg and abroad, a sister in Winnipeg (Nellie), a sister (Anna) and a brother (Mykolaj) in Poland.
Though Caroline is now in God’s loving arms, her daughter, Irene, will basque in the cherished moments and treasured memories that her and her mama were able to share between them and that will last a lifetime.
Caroline loved flowers and they can be sent to Korban Funeral Chapel.
Panahyda will be at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main Street. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, October 27, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Korban Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ihor Shved officiating. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery.
