It is with great sadness that we announce Les’s passing on October 9, 2023 at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg after a brief illness.
Les, the youngest of three children, was born on February 7, 1950 to Safat and Paraska (Pearl) Beyak in Volga, Manitoba. Les attended the one room Don School in Volga and later moved to Winnipegosis to complete his education. Following school, Les moved to BC where he worked at Western Mines as a mill operator, and later moved to Winnipeg and then Thompson to work with the Government of Manitoba as a storekeeper. Les and Barb relocated to Winnipeg following their retirements in 2008.
Les is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; daughter Leanne (Ryan) Chuckrey; daughter Tarilee (Ben) Rauscher; grandchildren, Sophie and Myles Chuckrey, and Kaela, Zoe and Maia Rauscher; sister Stella Konowalchuk; and numerous nieces and nephews, in-laws, and special friends.
Les was predeceased by his parents, Safat and Pearl Beyak; sister Ann Nykoluk-Eschuk; and many other family members.
Les will always be remembered for his quiet, gentle and kind ways. He was a devoted husband and father who took great pride in his children and grandchildren.
Our family wishes to offer our appreciation and thanks to the doctors, nurses, and aides that cared for our husband and father.
In keeping with Les’s wishes, cremation and a private family service has taken place. Internment is at the Glen Lawn Funeral Home and Cemetery in Winnipeg.
