Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARIE JOAN HOLLINS
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mom, Marie “Joan” Hollins (nee Murray); loving sister, wife, mother aunt and grandmother. Mom passed away peacefully in her own home with her sons and daughter at her side.
Mom was a loving wife and caregiver to David Hollins and was predeceased by him. She was also predeceased by her parents, Martin and Muriel Murray of Portage la Prairie; her brothers, John (Nina) and Gerry (Marg), also of Portage la Prairie; and nephew Dan Donaldson of Winnipeg.
Mom leaves to mourn her passing and to remember her life; sons, Scott (Sonia) and Murray (Sherie) and daughter Andrea Kingston (nee Sylvester) (John); grandchildren, Sydney, Bryson, Dawson, Jacob, Liam, Zak, Sara and Josh; sister Yvonne Donaldson (nee Murray) (Wilf); as well as many nieces and nephews through her extended and blended family.
Mom was born and raised in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba and eventually settled in Winnipeg, Manitoba where she put down roots and raised her family. Mom worked her whole life in a variety of settings but most of her career was involved in credit management with many local companies.
Mom was fiercely devoted to her family, and found great joy in seeing us all grow and succeed in our own lives. She felt that by helping each of us grow to become the people we have, that she has fulfilled her role as a mother and mentor. She took great pride in that.
Mom was an avid fan of her Winnipeg Jets and Winnipeg Blue Bombers. She never missed a game if she could help it.
Special thanks are offered to the numerous health care providers who tried to help Mom in these last years. Special thanks are also offered to the doctors and nurses of MAiD Canada who were able to help our Mom take responsibility for her own life and move on with the dignity she deserved.
Cremation services were provided by Wojcik's Funeral Chapel and Crematorium. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Joan Hollins to: The Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.
