MARY MARKHAM
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Markham (Romanuik, Wlazlo) on November 13, 2023, at Niagara Gardens Retirement Home in St. Catharines, Ontario.
She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband Bryan Markham in 2016. Mary and Bryan were blessed with 49 years of happiness. She was the loving and caring mother of Ted (Kat) Wlazlo; and loving stepmother to Ralph (Cathy) Markham, Ruth (Leo) Markham, David (Karla) Markham and Heidi (David) Tonin.
Mary was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was pre-deceased by her sisters, Anne Diduke and Cathy Tretiak; and is survived by her sister Helen Kanik.
As a dance instructor she used the name Miss Mary Lee and opened Penguin Dance Studio in 1958. The Main Street, then Edmonton Street studios, saw many young and old learn their first dance steps. She continued to teach for many years then pursued her love of history and antiques and volunteered extensively. Her life was blessed with many good friends, a wonderful husband and a loving family.
A celebration of her life will be at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens, Fonthill, Ontario.
Please make any donations to Alzheimer Society.
