DERRICK M. BIRT

Derrick passed away at age 69, in Victoria, BC, on November 9, 2023, from complications of Parkinson’s Disease.

He leaves behind his wife Rosanne, brother Jack (Nancy), sister Kathleen (Kaz), and his nieces and nephews and their families. Derrick was predeceased by his father Murray, mother Doris, sister Dianne and her husband Don.

Derrick enjoyed gathering with family and friends for dinners and special occasions, and also enjoyed the traditions that developed around some of these events. In his lifetime Derrick participated in a variety of activities and hobbies including hiking, camping and canoeing, curling, photography, cooking and wine making. He enjoyed and appreciated nature for both it's beauty and the balance of joy and peace that it can bring to our lives. For many years his camera seemed like a natural extension to his arm. In his working life Derrick was employed in the plastics industry in Winnipeg and prior to that he worked in several countries in Europe.
