YVETTE ST. GODARD
“Find a song you like and just dance to it.”
Yvette St. Godard, aged 94, passed away peacefully on November 16th, 2023 at Foyer Valade. Her children Suzanne, Claude and Gisèle were all together by her side during her last few days and her final moments. Yvette was the daughter of Ludger Bruneau and Angélina (née Marion). Along with her 4 brothers and 4 sisters, she grew up on a farm near St-Jean-Baptiste before getting married and moving to Winnipeg in the early 1950s.
When gathered with family and friends, mom was the life of the party. Her fun-spirited energy and sense of humour were always contagious and vibrant. Mom was always on the dance floor shaking her “bum-bum” until the music stopped at the end of the evening. Though mom was tiny in stature, she was mighty feisty and we knew it when she meant business. Mom was a “dynamo” who worked very hard during her lifetime whether it was at the St-Boniface Hospital, at home or in her garden. Ti’vette was very active and always found the time for camping in Carlowrie and in St-Malo, bowling, playing cards, knitting and crocheting countless gifts, including her famous “les lavettes d’Yvette”, for family and friends. Mom also enjoyed her time going to bingo, travelling on casino junkets and doing puzzles.
Yvette was predeceased by her husband Armand of 52 years in 2004 and her son Robert in 2013. She is survived by her children, Suzanne Fell (Richard), Claude St. Godard (Darlene) and Gisèle Préfontaine (Raymond). She had an immense love for her grandchildren, Riley and Erik Fell, Leigh-Anne and Kristen St. Godard, Cameron, Emily and Renee St. Godard, Janelle and Natalie Préfontaine, and 17 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren and 1 predeceased great-great-grandchild. Her love for her grandchildren was shown through laughter and playful teasing. Yvette is also survived by her siblings, Georges Bruneau (Célima), Rose-Marie Brémault (Roger), Anne-Marie Roy (Richard) and Irène Bruneau (widow of Aimé), numerous in-laws from the St-Godard family and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all of the staff at Résidence Despins and Foyer Valade for their compassionate care during her final year of life.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St-Boniface Hospital Foundation. As the Last Rites of the Roman Catholic Church were administered at Foyer Valade, there will be a service and proper farewell at a later date to be determined at Glen Lawn Funeral Home and Cemetery for her family and close friends.
Family and friends may sign a book of condolence at www.glenlawn.ca.

- Posted by: Helene McCarthy (Amie) on: Nov 25, 2023
