INA NETTIE JABLONSKI

(nee ANDRUSKOW)

February 8, 1930 - October 27, 2023

Peacefully, after a brief illness, Ina entered eternal rest on October 27, 2023.
Beloved mother of Leanne Jablonski (Marianist Sisters) Dayton, Ohio, and Ted Jablonski (Monique Courcelles); grandmother of Gabrielle Jablonski (James Schwartz), and Eric Jablonski (Jen Rothwell); great-grandmother of Cosette and Celeste Schwartz; and aunt of Barbara Hogg (Ken), all of Calgary, Alberta. Preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Nettie (Anastasia Nikiforuk) Andruskow; husband Ted Jablonski; and sister Millie Dumas (Ivan).
Born February 8,1930 in the Winnipeg's north end, Ina attended Faraday and Isaac Newton schools where she loved all sports. After Grade 11, she became an excellent seamstress through apprenticing, then began her home dress-making business, specializing in wedding gowns. She later worked part-time as a Diane's bridal consultant and at Just Petites.
Ina's faith was very important to her and was expressed quietly in hands-on, behind-the-scenes service. She joined St. John Cantius Parish and later Holy Redeemer after a move to East Kildonan. She was active in parish and Marianist lay community small groups, became a Marianist Spiritual Affiliate, and enjoyed hosting many meetings in her home.
Widowed in 1994, Ina increasingly devoted her life to weekly volunteering, being a strong believer of giving back. In 2011, HSC's CancerCare Clinic honoured Ina's 25 years of dedicated service with the Esther Gilpin Spirit Award. In 2017, St. Joseph's Residence featured Ina's qualities and 30 years' service as exemplary.
Ina loved all crafts and sewing. She designed and created over 70 felt liturgical banners for churches and St. Joseph's Residence and knitted thousands of cotton dishcloths. Ina also enjoyed gardening and soup-making until her energies waned and at 92, she moved to Calgary. Her greatest passion was her children and grandchildren whom she loved very dearly. Ina was generous and very supportive of all her family and friends. She nurtured and appreciated the creativity and talents of others and was a good listener. In Mary's spirit, Ina chose "treasured and pondered in my heart" for her epitaph.
