ISABEL MILDRED FOSTER

Born October 11, 1933, passed away at Abbotsford Regional Hospital on November 1, 2023 at age 90. Born in Brandon, Manitoba, the fourth child of Robert and Frances Johnston living on the farm in Justice, Manitoba, moving to Alberta in 1959, then to Coquitlam, BC, in 1965, and finally to Mission in 2019. She was a hairdresser by trade and later taught hairdressing at Red River College and worked other jobs, such as cleaning at Simon Fraser University. Isabel married Desmond on September 8, 1956.

Left to mourn her loss are her daughters, Patti (Greg) Foster and Sherry (Win) Aust; sister Mame Curle of Brandon, brother Don (Donna) Johnston of Brandon; grandchildren Kyle (Kara) Kortegaard, Nick (Angelina) Kortegaard, Lindy (Andrew) Pinson, and Carlee Aust; great-grandchildren Oscar and Stella Kortegaard and Arlo Pinson and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She had special relationships with Bill Purser and his daughter, Diana, later in her life.

She was very proud of her family. Isabel was a longtime member of the Ladies Orange Benevolent Association, the Pride of Ulster Flute Band, the Ulster Association, Cameron Garden Club, and the Royal Canadian Legion. She loved gardening, country music, baking, and and the odd drink of Irish Mist. She loved to play guitar while Des sang. They also loved to dance at the Legion on Saturday nights.

Special thanks to all of her doctors and nurses. Isabel will be dearly missed. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • To Sherry, Patti & Family I am so sorry to hear about your Mom. Also very surprised because she phoned me recently, just before she moved & we had a really long talk. She seemed quite OK with the move she was making & realized that she needed help. She was my very good friend & I will miss her. I will miss her laughter & her sense of humor. Our families have been friends for years & we always enjoyed seeing all of you at the great parties your Mom & Dad had every Christmas & others. I will always have good memories of those. I know you will all miss her dearly, she loved all of you so much. Condolences to all of your families. Rest in Peace Isobel....Rhona I put this message in here a couple of weeks ago but it never showed up so I am trying again. - Posted by: Rhona Ickringill (Friend) on: Dec 26, 2023

  • Dear Sherry, Patti & families, I remember your mom as the biggest personality in the tiniest body. She was very generous & loved her family the most. I loved hearing her play guitar & your dad sing! They can sing together again. I know you will miss her tremendously! Sending love to you all Love Karen, Geno, Sierra & Talia - Posted by: Karen Dennis (Friend ) on: Dec 12, 2023
