Penny Nadine (Osland) Finch passed away peacefully on November 26, 2023 at age 78. Penny was predeceased by her husband Doug in 2021, and her sister Donna in 2014.
She is survived by her sisters Brenda Downey (Del) and Cindy Parker, her step-children and their children: Craig Finch (Angela), Carter and Zander; Tannis Finch (Bill), Drew and Tyler; Tracey Finch Long (Brett), Phoenix and Marigold. Penny is also survived by cousins, nieces, and nephews in North America and Australia.
Penny was born in Winnipeg, second child of Violet and Kurt Osland, in a family of four girls. She was very spunky growing up and showed determination in all her endeavours. Penny attended John M King, General Wolfe, and Daniel McIntyre schools. She loved to sing (Patsy Cline) and played volleyball at the West End Community Club with her lifelong best friend Linda Winmill. These two were partners in crime in their youth!
Penny worked as a data entry supervisor at Standard Aero Engine and Dominion Stores. She also worked for and retired from Stats Canada. She was very fond of fashion and dressed for every occasion. What a wardrobe she had! Penny was very devoted to her mother and lived with her for years before she married.
Penny met Doug, the love of her life, and they were married in September 1988. They had many friends and belonged to a dinner and activity group in the early years of their marriage.
In time, Penny and Doug moved to the Dakota House, then Penny moved into the Maples personal care home where she passed away after a lengthy illness. Thank you to the staff of the Maples for the wonderful care they provided.
There will be a private graveside service at Glenlawn Funeral Home where Penny will be interred next to Doug. A celebration of life will take place December 11. Please contact family for details if you wish to attend. All friends and family of Penny and Doug's are welcome.
