CHARLES WILLIAM SHAFFER
Peacefully in his sleep, on Saturday, December 16, 2023, Charles 'Chuck' William Shaffer passed. Chuck, widowed from his wife and mother to his children Gertrude Louise Shaffer, is survived by his five children Owen (Patti), Todd (Karen), Stewart (Rachel), Robert (Tanis), and Nora (Jason), and nine grandchildren, Andrea, Megan, Heather, Bryn, Jack, Mark, Gage, Noelle, and Tatum.
Chuck was the oldest son of nine children of Wesley and Mary Shaffer and was born December 11, 1935, in Dryden Ontario. Chuck joined the Royal Canadian Airforce in 1958 and he served his country faithfully as a Warrant Officer, traveling and living in many places across Canada, Europe, and Africa, finally retiring in 1985 from Air Command in Winnipeg.
Chuck loved to talk and laugh, tell stories, fish, be outdoors and play cards. He played a harmonica well, could fix most anything mechanical, and he loved television. But most of all he loved coffee with Trudy.
Our family would like to thank Rose and all the team at the Charleswood Personal Care Home for their special care and support to Chuck and our family. Donations in Chuck’s honor can be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
