Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Wishing sincere condolences in your loss. I worked with Bev in the Claims Dept @ Great West Life for several years in which we shared many varied experiences. We commiserated on many complex decisions. Although we lost touch in the years hence, whenever Bev came to mind, one personal memory stood out crystal clear. This was at my wedding, when walking ever so nervously down the aisle, Bev in her astuteness recognized this. Upon our eyes meeting, she beamed the biggest smile & wink at me thereby lifting my angst. I can only imagine that throughout these many years , Bev will have repeatedly shared this compassionate smile & wink to countless others. - Posted by: Mary Malbasa (Prior work colleague) on: Jan 13, 2024

  • Bev and I met when we were 7 or 8 years ago. We loved having the same last name! We played together, roller skated with Linda Bishop and made girls’ clubs with Sharon and her sister Lorraine. I also remember Peter Rhoden, Florence McLaughlin, and Sharon Hamelin. We were at Churchill High together, we were together when it was announced that President Kennedy had been assassinated, and we often had lunch at Bev’s because her mom would make creamed salmon on toast which I loved (and still make for myself)! I used to iron her hair when long straight hair was the style! I’ve We went to Tec Voc for a business course and then on to jobs at Great West Life. We were each other’s maid/matron of honour at our weddings and spent time together before I moved to Charleswood. Bev’s sister Cathy babysat for me when my husband and I went bowling so the whole family was involved! Bev and I lost touch for a couple of decades, if memory serves me then reconnected some time ago. We spent the past decade or so talking for hours on the phone reminiscing. Bev came to my brother’s and my Dad’s funerals for which I was grateful. I will miss her, my friend of 70 years. - Posted by: Shar Lynn (Friend) on: Jan 03, 2024
