RICHARD ELLIOTT ARCHER

Following a brief illness, peacefully, Richard Elliott Archer passed away on January 1, 2024, surrounded by his family.

Dick was born in 1940 during a time of growing prosperity and challenges. He took the opportunities given to him to live life to its fullest. He managed to raise a busy, young family while accomplishing a distinguished career in finance. Dick considered himself a proud Winnipegger and valued philanthropy, sharing his passion and knowledge of finance with many charitable organizations. He was considered a mentor and encouraged the people around him. He has left a legacy of inspiration and community spirit.

Dick always remained active by playing a variety of sports over the years, including basketball, squash, tennis, and golf. He also enjoyed traveling the globe for work, and later with his wife, in retirement. Dick led a rich life crossing paths with many people, making lifelong friends. He was a wonderful family man and a sage advisor to his children.

A private gathering is planned, and an interment will take place at a later date. If you wish to make a donation in his name, Dick would be honoured if you gave to a charity supporting the community, the arts, or the environment, as he was active in all these areas. He would also be happy to know that you give a quiet helping hand when someone is in need.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • My sincere condolences to the family. We enjoyed many years of sharing the same neighbourhood with the Archer family. So very sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Bev Sigurdson (Former neighbour) on: Jan 06, 2024

  • I was deeply saddened to hear of Dick's passing. Dick and I worked on a number of projects together while he was Chief Financial Officer of Investor's Group and I headed up a Real Estate company. We were both particularly proud of developing what is now the Investor's Group headquarters building. I found Dick to be highly intelligent, professional and a pleasure to work with. He will be missed by his family, friends and many admirers. - Posted by: Sam Linhart (Business Relationship) on: Jan 06, 2024
