MARY ANN WINGIE


The family is sad to announce that Mary Ann Wingie of Winnipeg, Manitoba passed away at Grace Hospital on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at the age of 62 years old.

Mary Ann was born in Swan River, Manitoba on September 1, 1961 to Adam and Evelyn Wingie. She was raised on the family farm in Pine River, Manitoba with her siblings, Erwin, David, Darlene and Larry. Mary Ann had many fond memories of her childhood growing up on the farm. She attended school at the Highway School and Pine River Elementary School and then later graduated from high school in Ethelbert.

Mary Ann moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba shortly after graduating. She was known for her amazing cooking skills and built a career around her passion. She blessed so many people with her cooking and taught culinary arts for 19 years at R.B. Russell Vocational School in Winnipeg.

She retired four years ago and began to spend her time camping at the lake at Lundar with Eugene, and her two dogs, Spike and Bella. They spent many days sitting by the campfire and often held bbqs for friends and family. She will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Mary Ann was predeceased by her parents, Adam and Evelyn Wingie, her brother David Wingie, her brother-in-law Greg Tawns, her paternal grandparents, John and Anna Wingie, her maternal grandparents, Walter and Lena Cychmistruk and step-grandmother Ester Cychmistruk, Don Ullett, along with many loved aunts and uncles.

Mary Ann is survived by her partner Eugene Paruby, her step-children, Ginger Ann Paruby (Rocco), and Jocelyn (Drew) Sawchuck, her step-grandchildren, Zander and Kinzley Sawchuk, her step-son Blake Ullett, her siblings, Erwin (Maryann) Wingie, Darlene Wingie, and Larry Wingie (Loretta), along with her nieces and nephews Crystal, Candice, Courtney, Ashley and Jordan and great-nieces, Avery, Kylie, Olive and Blake.

A funeral service will be held for Mary Ann on Monday, January 8, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sneath-Strilchuk Family Care Centre in Dauphin, Manitoba. The interment will follow at Fletcher Cemetery in Pine River, Manitoba.

Donations may be made to the Fletcher Cemetery or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
