MARY WREGGITT

November 10, 1926-January 10, 2024

At the age of 97, our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mary Wreggitt, passed away peacefully, with family members by her side.

She had many fond memories growing up on Austin Street. During that time, she met Bill, her husband of 50 years, while working together at the Manitoba Textbook Bureau. They raised their family in West Kildonan and retired to Lester Beach, spending winters in Arizona. At Lester Beach, she enjoyed watching the sunsets, walking along the beach, blueberry picking, and bartering for the best deal at yard sales. Mom loved being active in the community, teaching line dancing, fitness classes and fundraising.

We are very proud of Mom's accomplishments, including starting a successful home typing business in the 1960s that employed over 30 women. She also created an award-winning garden and baked the best blueberry pies and chocolate chip cookies.

We will always remember Mom's great sense of humour, generosity and all the support she has given us throughout the years.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her four children: Glen, Linda (Brian), Nancy (Wally), and Ken (Laureen); ten grandchildren: Carl, Joseph, Robin, Shannan, Sam (Drew), Laura (Matt), Jessie (Ethan), Peter, Ty (Michelle), and Zoe (Craig), and four great-grandchildren: Alexander, Theo, Flora and Phoebe.

She was predeceased by her husband Bill, mother Ann, father John, brother Bill and sister Helen.

We extend a big thank you to Mom's caregivers at Brightwater Senior Living.

At Mom's request, a private family gathering will be held at Lester Beach, her favourite place.

Those wishing to do so may make a donation in Mary's memory to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or a charity of your choice.

  • Our sincerest condolences in the loss of dear Mary. I have very fond memories of Mary going on adventures with her at Lester Beach doing yard sales. She had a great sense of humour and amazed me at all she could do in her later years. Always fun to be with and enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved her cottage and the lake life. Baking, cooking and attending to her flowers. I miss her. - Posted by: Carol & Glenn Chudley (Friend) on: Jan 13, 2024
