It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Sean Steven Witzke on January 7, 2024, at the Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre. Sean was born into the loving embrace of Allan and Sharyn Witzke on April 15,1970 in Winnipeg, MB.
Growing up in St. Andrews, Sean brought joy to those around him with his exceptional sense of humour. He graduated from Selkirk High School, engaging in a variety of sports such as hockey, baseball, football, and excelling in water polo. The family swimming pool became a place of laughter and shared memories with friends and family.
Sean graduated from Red River College with a diploma in Structural Engineering Technology and he started his career in the construction industry.
Sean married Patti Carson on August 10 in 2002. They started a life together in Fisher Branch. Sean contributed to the healthcare sector as a dedicated health care aide and recreational support worker.
Together with Patti, he travelled around Canada, indulging in scuba diving adventures in BC and marveling at the wonders of Niagara Falls in Ontario. The family expanded with the arrival of Bogdan (Bo), and Sean embraced fatherhood with enthusiasm. Coaching soccer, partaking in Ukrainian dancing with Bo, embarking on long snowmobile trips, and bonding over video games became cherished family activities. As an avid Jets and Bombers fan, Sean instilled his passion for sports in his loved ones. Numerous memories were created at their Grand Beach cabin, making it a cherished retreat for the family.
Sean was predeceased by his mother Sharyn Witzke and father-in-law Kenneth. He leaves to mourn his wife Patti, son Bo, father Allan Witzke (Diane), brother Scott Witzke (Kim), sister Nicole Skiba (Prez), mother-in-law, Betty, sister-in-law Connie Chaput (Bob), brother-in-law, James Carson (Lilja), sister Susan Carson and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the Fisher Branch Fire department, staff at the Percy Moore Hospital and the Health Sciences Centre for their exceptional care.

Sean was my husband for 21 and a half years. We shared many special experiences. He gave up city life to marry me and live in Fisher Branch. He worked hard at renovating our home. He changed his career goals to pursue employment in rural Manitoba. He raised an amazing son, Bo with me. He even became an adult Ukrainian dancer. Bo and I will miss Sean for the rest of our lives. We have many cherished memories that we will hold in our hearts forever. - Posted by: Patricia Witzke (wife) on: Feb 19, 2025

I have known Patti since I started working with her in 1999 in Fisher Branch at the Collegiate. My husband stood up for Sean in their wedding party. We will remember fond memories of Sean and Patti's life together, especially their road to adopt their son Bo. We will be praying for the family as you go through time. My heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the Witzke family. I went to school with Sean for many years and played hockey with him as well. A kind hearted soul that was willing to help anyone, a gentle giant whose presence will surely be missed in this world. Although a great loss, I was very happy to read that Sean had a career and a family of his own and his memory will be carried on by his family. - Posted by: Blair Gromniski (School Mate/Hockey ) on: Jan 16, 2024
