BETTY CARSON

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Betty Joan Carson on January 17, 2024. Betty had a long and very happy life spanning 95 years. Betty was predeceased in 2020 by Ken, her loving husband of 71 years.

Betty will be missed by her children, James (Lilja), Connie (Bob), Susan and Patti (Sean); her grandchildren, Jennifer (Scott), Heather (Michael), William (Kristen), Valerie and Bogdan; her great-grandchildren, Quentin, Colton (Haley), Olivia, Georgia, Finn and Rowan; and her great-great-grandchildren, Lincoln and Stella.

Betty was the tenth child in her family, born on a farm near Clavet, SK. She grew up in nearby Saskatoon. She was a telephone operator when she met Ken, raising a family with him in Saskatoon and later Winnipeg. Betty was 36 when she upgraded her grade 12 and started university. She graduated with a pharmacy degree and opened Carson Pharmacy in Lac du Bonnet, MB.

In retirement, Betty and Ken wintered in Hawaii avoiding snow for almost 20 years. They enjoyed busy summers at their Grand Beach cabin entertaining their grandchildren. They travelled extensively in Canada and the USA. They took trips to Europe, China, Brazil and New Zealand. They also took many cruises with family and friends.

Betty's family wishes to express appreciation to the staff and supportive community at the Seine River Retirement Residence. The WRHA Home Care team helped her remain at home for many years. The staff of ward 3 South at the Grace Hospital were very kind during Betty's last days.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life for Betty in the spring.

  • So very sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. Her and your Dad were volunteers at the High Steppers for many years. It was a privilege to have your Dad attend as participant. It gave us time to visit with your Mom on those days. Two really wonderful people. On behalf of our former group I send our condolences to your family. - Posted by: Jay Spicer (Friend) on: Apr 25, 2024
