Dan passed away peacefully on January 14, knowing that he was loved.
He will be greatly missed by his daughters, Karen (Geoff), Cheryl (Paul), and Denise; grandchildren, Sarah, Jared, Rachelle, Connor and Paige; brother Nick (Ludi); and cousin Christine. Dan was predeceased by his wife Phyllis in 2007.
Dan was born November 10, 1931, in Poland. He grew up on a small farm and remained in Poland until his early adult years. His dream to start a new life in Canada came true in 1958 when he settled in Winnipeg. Shortly after his arrival, Dan met Phyllis. They were then married in 1962 and raised three daughters. He was employed at Versatile and Monarch Industries as a Lathe Operator. Although Dan had a strong work ethic, his primary focus and joy was his family. He wanted his children and grandchildren to be successful and was always supportive. He encouraged us to attend University, to live within our means and to always be humble.
Dan enjoyed carpentry, gardening, chess and playing the accordion. He especially loved his annual camping vacations at Grand Beach with his family. During his retirement, Dan enjoyed trips to Mexico, Cuba and Hawaii. He even tried ziplining in Mexico at 80 years of age.
When his health deteriorated, he remained kind-hearted and appreciated all who cared for him. To the wonderful staff on Weinberg 3 at the Simkin Centre, we simply cannot thank you enough for your kindness and compassionate care of Dan during the past year. Thank you to the Simkin residents for your friendship.
A Celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home at 455 Lagimodiere Blvd.
If so desired, a donation may be made to a charity of your choice.

Deepest condolences to Karen, Cheryl, Denise and families. Your dad was a kind man and always smiling. I remember him as a hard working family man and enjoying home-made chicken soup. - Posted by: Alyson Field (Friend of daughters ) on: Jan 21, 2024
