JACQUELINE FAY BELLINGER SEWELL

Jacqueline Fay Bellinger Sewell of Winnipeg, MB born October 29, 1933, and passed on January 20, 2024.

Our Dear Mother was born and raised in Port Colborne, ON, the daughter of Harry Bellinger and Georgina Coyle (Leavere) Bellinger. Predeceased by her Darling husband Eric George Sewell (2004), her wonderful parents, and her loving brothers, Bert Leavere (May Olm) and Ray Leavere, and infant sister Dorothy Leavere.

She is survived by her loving and devoted family, who meant everything to her. She will be greatly missed by her two sons, Brad Sewell of Winnipeg, and Tim Sewell (Karen) of Oakville, and grandson, Alex Sewell (Claire), great-granddaughter, Frankie Bea Sewell of Perth, West Australia, and grandson, Eric Sewell of Calgary, Alberta.

Her absence will be felt by her sisters-in-law, Marjorie Leavere (Ray), and Thea Sewell (Dennis), and by her many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by all the Sewell Family; her in-laws, Isaac (Ike) and Violet Sewell, Silvia Lever (Ross), Vera Dulaj (Joe), Dennis (Florence Haslam), Bryan (Mary Novosel), who sadly have all gone on before her.

After graduation from Port Colborne High School, her first work experiences were with the Bank of Commerce, Scott Misener Steamships, and lnco Port Colborne. She married our Dad Eric on September 22, 1956, and he very sadly he passed away on the very day of their 40th wedding anniversary.

In January 1961, they accepted the opportunity and transferred with lnco to Thompson, MB. They became a part of a new town rising out of the north, and it was such an exciting time. She became charter secretary of the Kinette Club, and Chimo Chapter of the Eastern Star, and voluntarily typed from home for St. John's United Church, and many of the new service organizations such as the golf course just getting underway. Mom was a member of the United Church Women (UCW), and in the early days enjoyed mixed bowling, and later into league curling and family snowmobile and fishing excursions. For many years Saturdays were spent at the arena with their sons playing hockey, and Eric managing and coaching the Kinsman Termite Hockey League. Summer weekends were often spent camping, boating and fishing at beautiful Paint Lake, and drives to visit family in Ontario.

She worked in the dispensary of Soble's Rexall Pharmacy, before hiring on with lnco Administration, Manitoba Division. When our Dad Eric retired in 1985, they returned to Ontario, and settled in Fonthill, and she worked part time for Sears, St. Catharines. Their travels included the NWT, Florida, Las Vegas, Australia, Great Britain, Wales and Ireland. In 2012, she took up residence in Winnipeg, MB, to be near family. She thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful Thompson get togethers arranged by Bill and Dell Corneil, and the pleasure of being able to reminisce with so many former workmates and old friends, who have retired to the city.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place, and the burial of cremated ashes to follow at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens, at a date as yet be decided.

At her request, and in lieu of flowers, Mom asks that you treat an old friend or a stranger in need, to lunch or dinner, and to pause for a moment and reminisce on the happy times we shared. Our Mom's Motto: "Life in hindsight is unimaginably short, so savour every minute by spending your precious time here on earth around those you love, trust and enjoy."
