With profound sadness, we announce the unexpected passing of a much-loved son, brother, and uncle, Rev. Donald Byron McKenzie, on January 14, 2024, at 58.

Born in Montreal, PQ, on October 12, 1965, Donald's journey through life took him from Montreal to Prince Albert, SK, and Chilliwack, BC, before settling in Winnipeg, MB, where he resided at the time of his untimely passing.

Donald was ordained in the Anglican Church of Canada on November 30, 2008. At his passing, Donald was Interim Rector at Holy Trinity Anglican Church. Previously, he served as a Parish Priest at St. Bartholomew's Anglican Church, Priest Missioner at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, and Parish Priest at St. Philip's Norwood Anglican Church. Donald also contributed his talents as a social media Minister and Assistant Curate at Holy Trinity Anglican Church.

Donald is survived by his mother, Major Caroline Ena McKenzie, and brothers Ian (Glenda), Robert, William, Gordon (Wendy), and Cameron (Irma). He is also remembered fondly by aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous friends. Donald was predeceased by his father, Major William McKenzie, in November 2009.

A funeral service for Donald will be held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 256 Smith St., Winnipeg, on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. In place of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be directed to "Grow Hope" in support of the Primates World Relief Fund.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I want to thank Don for the tremendous support he gave to the young families when I attended Holy Trinity. He always had the time to speak to those trying to create new programs that would invite more into the church. He wore many hats and did well to take care of each task he took on. My condolences to his family and to his church family. He will be missed. - Posted by: Marie Buchok (Parishioner Holy Trinity) on: Feb 02, 2024
